"TO ALL HANDS" Communications Via Email   -   IMPORTANT ! And How Communicating through Email Helps Us and You     The Association is striving to utilize the internet as much as possible to communicate with shipmates. This medium allows us to get the word out on important matters very quickly and at virtually no cost to the Association.     In comparison, significant costs are incurred for printing, copying, and postage in order to communicate with shipmates via conventional mail. A printed postal mailing to the full Association roster of over 1,500 shipmates currently costs in the range of $1,000.00, and printing and mailing of rosters to Active dues payers costs $4.50 to $5.00 per shipmate.     Due to the cost factor we are pretty restricted in our ability to communicate with shipmates, and only do full roster mailings around twice per year. On the other hand, we can send email broadcasts out any time and as frequently as we want. This really comes in handy when we are trying to get the word out on developments regarding a reunion, as in who is attending, etc., as we lead up to the reunion each year.     In addition, email is a convenient and inexpensive way for shipmates to stay in touch with one another or to make contact with shipmates who haven't connected in many years. This is why we offer so many resources on our website to not only give a means of emailing, but also the means to post messages and even use our online and/or outside blog/chat areas available to you. With the use of our online forms, you can now quickly and easily either register with us and/or send us any updates to previously supplied information, especially if you change email addresses. Please understand that your registration or update may take a few days or longer to appear on the website, especially the first few months or so as shipmates become familiar with the new website's design and enhancements.
